Meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the Month at the Mountainside Municipal Building  in the Community Room which is located on the second floor from 10 am to 12 noon during the months of September through May.  We have an active calendar of interesting speakers and also schedule two trips a year.
Objective is:

  1. To promote the cultural, educational, recreational and social activities of active senior citizens of the Borough of Mountainside.
  2. To afford the members the opportunity to meet with their peers and to provide active senior citizens with the opportunity to present their views in matters of concern to them. Close for summer mid-May through August.

Meet the 2nd and 4th Friday of month at Community Presbyterian Church 12 noon during the months of September through June.  Senior Citizen Club is a borough-sponsored organization.

Objective is:
To extend an opportunity to men and women in retirement years to meet socially, to build new friendships, and create an active interest in various programs.

Home Improvement Program

Union County Home Improvement & Senior Home Improvement Program: This program was created to help rehabilitate homes of low and moderate income homeowners.

Healthy Bones

Low-impact exercise program for men and woman who have or are at risk of osteoporosis being held in Borough Hall.  The class teaches how to improve and stabilize bone density, increase strength, balance, flexibility and build muscle mass.  The class is on Wednesdays from 10-11 am excluding July and August and takes place in the Mountainside Community Room in Borough Hall.   The cost is $15 for residents and $72 for non-residents.   To register, call Kim 908-232-4406.

Fit & Healthy

A one hour program with includes gentle stretching, low impact aerobic movement, and exercise with educational sessions.  This class is offered FREE of charge every Friday from 10-11 a.m. excluding July and August and takes place in the Mountainside Community Room in Borough Hall.

Home Remodeling Guide

Guide to Home Remodeling for Disability and Special Needs: This guide aims to help make the federal grants available to seniors, veterans, and disabled people much easier to understand and take advantage of, particularly for remodeling homes for accessibility.

Provides FREE planning and programs to help assist in providing for our frail, or at risk seniors who reside in Mountainside.  This is possible due to a grant through the Watts Foundation. Community Pool

Senior Pool Memberships are available (ages 62+).  The pool is scheduled to open on Saturday, June 6th.  Daily operations begin on Saturday, June 19th and runs through Labor Day.  Seniors receive two guest passes with membership and those who join before April 15th will receive an additional two free guest passes. 


Pickleball is on tennis courts at Echo Brook (Borough Hall). All you need a friend or 3, your paddles & balls and you are ready to play. Tennis badges are required, which are $10 for seniors 62+ available at Recreation Department.

Transportation is available for seniors 60+ who are unable to drive
